David Licauco Reveals That He Considered Dating Barbie Forteza – Find Out What Happened

David Licauco made headlines recently when he admitted that he had thought about dating his best friend, fellow GMA artist Barbie Forteza. David Licauco opened up in an interview with The Philippine Star lifestyle section about his strong friendship with Barbie. David said they had a great chemistry, and that their understanding of one another was deep. This made him think about taking the relationship to the next step.
David’s reveal comes as a big surprise to their long-time fans who have admired their unmistakable friendship and on-screen chemistry. David clarified, however, that they are only good friends at this time and are focused on each other’s careers. David also stressed the importance to maintain a healthy friendship, and not let romantic feelings ruin their relationship. Despite this admission, many fans still hold out hope that the friendship between the two actors could grow into something else in the near future. This would make them one of most beloved love teams within the Philippine entertainment industry.
Many fans of celebrities who have formed love teams make comments about their desire for their spark to become real, even when the couple already has a partner in real-life. David Licauco is not a stranger to this. He formed a loveteam with Barbie Forteza.
David was the guest of honor at Bea Alonzo lie detector segment In her YouTube channel, he was asked about his life before his breakthrough role in the TV series Maria Clara at Ibarra As well as his pairing of Barbie, which is now popular with viewers.
Fans often comment on how the two would make an amazing couple, even though Barbie’s heart beats already for Jak Roberto. Her boyfriend of six-years.
David acknowledged that when Bea asked him whether he felt pressured by his comments, he admitted it. “Yeah.”
“Pero nagco-cross siya sa mind mo na ‘What if naging kami ni Barbie?'” Bea asked, “What do you mean?”

David explained himself. “Syempre I respect yung relationship nila [Barbie and Jak] and all that, pero totoo naman, what if?”
Bea expressed similar sentiments to him. She explained that she had never been romantically involved with John Lloyd Cruz. However, she entertained occasional thoughts about what might happen if they were to get together in person.
“That doesn’t mean you will act upon it,” She said and David agreed.
David stated that Jak and Barbie are the best of friends.
“We’re friends. Artista din kasi siya. I think he knows all the ins and outs of this industry. I think si Barbie di rin naman nagkukulang to give him assurance. Knowing Barbie, she’s a good person. I think that she’s a good partner also,” He said.
Talking about his success and that of Barbie David revealed that he’d like to see his love team be as long-lasting and successful as Kathryn Bernardo & Daniel Padilla.
“Si Daniel at Si Kathryn—idol ko pala sila, by the way. Yeah, I think so. Kung may sumusuporta pa rin sa’min, like in two, three, four, or five years,” He said. “Nakakakilig kasi sila eh.”
David said that while he is under pressure from other love teams, such as Donny and Belle Mariano, KD Estrada, Alexa and Alexa, etc., he sees this as a chance to improve.
“Fifty-fifty siguro. I guess as a business person, gusto mong okay ang ginagawa mo. At the end of the day, business pa rin naman ang showbiz. So, I really want to do my best in this loveteam pero I’m not hating [the other loveteams],” He said.
David and Barbie have been preparing for their return to primetime television with the remake Maging Sino Ka Man series.
