Davao City’s Central 911 Now Accessible to All Telcos

THE Davao City Central 911 emergency hotline is now fully accessible to all telecommunications networks, the city government announced on Wednesday, May 22, 2025.

In a public advisory, Central 911 confirmed that residents can now dial 911 for emergencies regardless of their network provider. The update marks a significant milestone in making emergency services more universally available to the public.

“You may now dial 911 for emergencies. Thank you,” the brief yet important statement reads.

Davao City’s Central 911 is the first and only fully integrated emergency response system in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.

Launched in 2002 under the leadership of then-Mayor and former President Rodrigo Duterte, it was modeled after the United States’ 911 system. The initiative centralized services for police, fire, medical, rescue, and K9 responses, ensuring quick and coordinated action during emergencies.

Over the years, Central 911 has earned praises for its efficiency, professionalism, and innovation. Staffed by highly trained personnel and supported by advanced dispatch technology, the system handles everything from daily emergencies to major disasters and critical incidents.

It has since become a model for other local government units aiming to establish similar emergency response systems.

With access now expanded to all mobile and landline users, the city government reminds the public to use the hotline responsibly and only for legitimate emergencies. Prank or non-urgent calls remain punishable under local ordinances. DEF
