Davao City Bolsters Disaster Response with 22 New Vehicles
THE City Government of Davao officially turned over 22 new disaster response and emergency vehicles and equipment on Wednesday morning, May 28, 2025 during a ceremonial event held at the City Hall Grounds in San Pedro Street.
Of the 22 newly acquired vehicles, 14 were funded through the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Fund, while the remaining eight were sourced from the Peace and Order Fund.
These additions are expected to enhance the city’s readiness and capacity in disaster response, firefighting, coastal security, and agricultural development.
Among the equipment turned over to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) were a rubber boat, a ram jack, an engine duo pump, a life detector device, a spreader, three sets of hydraulic hoses (blue, orange, and a double hose reel core), a V-strut, and a mobile high-pressure compressor. The office also received 120 rescue helmets with headlamps, two fiberglass multipurpose ladders, and two portable power stations.
The City Engineer’s Office received four emergency response vehicles, while the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Davao City Fire District was given four fire trucks and one command vehicle. The Philippine Coast Guard-Davao Station received one pick-up truck and one patient transport vehicle. Task Force Davao was provided with six mobile emergency vehicles and two pick-up trucks.
Meanwhile, the City Agriculturist’s Office received two farm tractors to support rural development initiatives.
This initiative follows a similar effort on December 27, 2024, when the city government turned over more than 30 new disaster response assets, including fiber boats, emergency vehicles, and disaster trucks. These units were distributed to several city offices and agencies, such as the CDRRMO, City Engineer’s Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, BFP, Task Force Davao, and Davao City Police Office.
City officials reiterated that the continued investment in modern equipment underscores Davao City’s dedication to public safety, disaster preparedness, and effective governance. DEF
