Comelec proclaims 12 new senators-elect

FIVE days after the May 12 polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), on Saturday, May 17, 2025, proclaimed the 12 new senators-elect of the Philippines.

In an elaborate ceremony held at the Tent City of the Manila Hotel, the NBOC formally proclaimed the incoming senators, who will be serving until 2031.

“Now, therefore, by virtue of the power vested in it under the 1987 Constitution, Omnibus Election Code, and other election laws, the Commission on Elections, sitting en banc as the National Board of Canvassers, hereby declares the 12 candidates as the duly elected senators of the Republic of the Philippines in the May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections,” said Comelec Chairman George Garcia as he read the NBOC proclamation during the open session.

Proclaimed were Bong Go (27,121,073); Bam Aquino (20,971,899); Ronald dela Rosa (20,773,946); Erwin Tulfo (17,118,881); Francis Pangilinan (15,343,229); and Rodante Marcoleta (15,250,723);

Completing the senators-elect are Ping Lacson (15,106,111); Tito Sotto (14,832,996); Pia Cayetano (14,573,430); Camille Villar (13,651,274); Lito Lapid (13,394,102); and Imee Marcos (13,339,227).

The newly elected members of the Senate will begin their term on June 30 and will run until 2031.

During the proclamation, 11 of the 12 senators-elect were present, while being accompanied by their families and friends.

Only Pangilinan was not present in the ceremony as he was attending the graduation of her daughter, Kakie Pangilinan, in the United States. He was represented by his siblings.

They were called on stage one by one as their respective certificates of proclamation were being read by members of the NBOC.
