Cloudy skies expected during Sinulog sa Dakbayan 2025

FOR those attending the Sinulog festivities, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Visayas forecast partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening.

In an interview on Sunday, January 12, 2025, Pagasa Visayas weather specialist Ana Dumdum said the expected temperature will range from 25°C to 31°C, which remains within the safe range for the heat index.

However, isolated thunderstorms may bring sudden heavy rainfall.

Despite this, the heat index could feel much higher, ranging from 33°C to 36°C, which falls under the “extreme caution” category due to high humidity, particularly in crowded areas.

Surface air temperature refers to the actual temperature of the air measured by a thermometer, while the heat index takes into account both temperature and humidity to determine how hot it feels to the human body.

Pagasa Visayas has advised festival-goers to bring umbrellas and other rain gear when participating in outdoor activities. (CDF)
