Charo Santos shares advice for women in love with younger men

Younger men have always been my strongest weakness. That’s because I refuse to feel my age. So when I saw the teaser of the movie about a May-December romance, “Only We Know (OWK),” it hit me bullseye. Falling for someone younger may seem like the right kind of wrong but it’s real nonetheless.

Even just from the trailer alone, you can already feel the potent combination of Ms. Charo Santos and Dingdong Dantes. As Betty and Ryan, the unusual duo reminds us that we must not let our age be a cage. The heart does not get wrinkles, après tout. So love at 60 feels like you’re 16. One love fits all.

Here’s my chat with Ms. Charo:

What sets your film apart from other movies about a “May-December” romance ?’

“‘Only We Know’ differs from typical May-December romance films by providing a unique perspective on the challenges these relationships face. It delves into themes like love, societal pressure and personal growth, making it relatable and genuine.

“It has a fresh storyline that moves beyond cliches,  well-crafted characters that make the romance feel authentic, a focus on the emotional experiences of the characters, showcasing the ups and downs of their relationship.

“In the realm of Filipino cinema, other films have tackled similar themes, but ‘OWK’ aims to offer a distinctive take on these complex dynamics.”

What’s your advice to women who are in love with a younger man?

“Focus on your connection rather than the age difference. It’s important to communicate openly and ensure you’re both aligned. Don’t let societal norms define your happiness; prioritize respect and trust.

“Additionally, remember to embrace your uniqueness: every relationship is different, so find what works for you. Be self-aware of your needs and boundaries, and foster a partnership that thrives on support, care, and love. Ultimately, empower yourself to prioritize your happiness and well-being.”

What can you say about the double standard that it seems more acceptable when the guy is a lot older than his girlfriend but it is frowned upon when the woman is with a younger man?

“It’s simply unfair and outdated to criticize women for dating younger men while older men with younger partners are often accepted. We should focus on the relationship’s quality rather than the ages involved; love shouldn’t be restricted by age.

“Moreover, this highlights societal hypocrisy and biases. Women deserve the freedom to make their choices without judgment. Relationships should be evaluated based on mutual respect, trust and love, not age. We need to push for greater understanding and acceptance in these dynamics.”

98 Degrees on my YT Channel

What a thrill it was to have the famed ‘90s boy band, 98 Degrees, on my DollywoodPH YouTube Channel. Check out our engaging interview online. Super duper thanks to Boss Vic del Rosario for making it possible. Thanks a mil to my Viva Angel Ferlin Pareño, Jinky  Fabelico, Kathy Caymon and Klaudine Amoroso of Viva Artists Agency Live for their kind assistance.

The  concert of 98 Degrees at the Mall of Asia Arena was a rousing success. I became a bigger fan of theirs  after my “up close and personal” encounter with them.

That’s because Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons have no star complex at all. They are truly winners  on and off stage. Such an awesome foursome.

Michael Sager’s post-‘PBB’ era

Sparkle artist Michael Sager is now the sum total of all the moments and memories during his stint at “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB)” Celebrity Collab Edition. While he was inside the “PBB” house, the ‘Diligent Wonder Son ng Marinduque” had triumphs and setbacks but his commitment never wavered. When Michael’s heart is in it, the sky’s the limit.

Here’s my chat with Michael:

What’s your takeaway from your “PBB” journey?

“I got to know myself more and what I can improve on. When I was nominated thrice, I appreciated it because it made me realize that  there’s something I have to adjust to and it taught me acceptance. The ‘PBB’ experience made me love myself more and be proud to show the world who I am.”

If you could choose celebs to be with inside the “PBB” house, who would you pick?

“Tom Cruise. I will ask him for tips on being dedicated to one’s craft. I look up to him. Kakabilib ‘cause he does his own stunts.

“Jennie of BLACKPINK, Kathryn Bernardo and Donny Pangilinan.”

Would you ever ghost a girl?

“When I was younger, I did that. I’ve learned from that mistake. Ghosting is not right. Communication is the key.”

What’s your life mantra?

“‘When you climb a mountain, climb a higher mountain.’ That’s because I will never be complacent. I won’t stop reaching for greater heights.”

Archuleta and ‘Viktorya’

In 2012, David Archuleta released an album, “Forevermore,” which contained his covers of modern classic Filipino songs.

To this day, the “American Idol” crooner’s penchant for Pinoy stuff  remains. At the iHeartRadio Music Awards and the GLAAD Media Awards, David was spotted flashing luxury bags from Viktorya Minaudiere, a brand whose products are made by Filipino artisans.

Behind the rising brand is Filipino-American Maria Victoria Mejia. She received the Heroes of Change award from Amare magazine. According to its publisher, she earned the award because of her “commitment to craftsmanship and dedication to sustainable luxury.”

Her bags and accessories have captured the attention of celebrities and prominent people in the Fil-Am community and beyond. Viva Viktorya Kathang Filipina!
