A woman from South Carolina sheltered a stray feline in her home as Hurricane Helene hit the southern cost of the United States, but her cat did not approve of the kind gesture.
In a video shared on TikTok on Friday, under the username @thejacobsclan, the woman’s black-and-white cat can be seen sitting on the bed, staring at the stray feline lying opposite to him, and angered by his owner’s decision to let him in.
“My cat wondering why I let the stray cat inside during hurricane helene,” reads layover text on the clip. The owner says in the caption: “Tofu is kinda offended but she is being a trooper. Its just flooding away outside.”
The poster, Lance Jacobs, from Spartanburg, told Newsweek that the cat is still with them, and they have named him Waffle Fries.
Jacobs said: “We found him when the winds and rain were hitting hard, and we took him in; he was really scared. We set up a Go Fund Me to help us with his vet bills because the storm has knocked our power for five days.”
While cats can live together peacefully, not all of them are friendly to their fellow felines, and there are many reasons for their hostile behavior.
Catster experts say that, as territorial creatures, felines do not like to share their space, especially with unrelated cats. This can create stress, and trigger territorial instincts, particularly if there is resource competition.
While some cats, usually those who were socialized as kittens and have experienced living with other felines, may enjoy the presence of another cat in the house, those who are usually to being alone probably won’t.
Cats can be trained to share a space peacefully with other fellow felines, as long as they are provided with enough distraction and hiding places to isolate when they feel like they have had enough social interaction.
The best way to train a cat is using positive reinforcement, avoiding punishment, which can increase stress levels and make training even harder.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 2.6 million views and almost 550,000 likes on the platform.
