Carla Abellana, in a recent post on Instagram Stories, dared the page “Imperial Patriarch” to witness her acting prowess without cameras.
It can be recalled that recently, the said page posted what appeared to be a critique of the Philippine cinema, along with its actors.
The post called out the level of acting of Pinoy actors, saying that they’re “always bad, awkward, and unnatural.”
It also said Pinoy acting is “too forced, unrealistic, and they just fail to depict how those real emotions are conveyed in the real world.”

“I’m not alone in this opinion that Philippine Cinema or at least the level of acting in them is always bad, awkward, and unnatural,” the post in the “Imperial Patriarch” page said.
“They’re too forced, unrealistic, and they just fail to depict how those real emotions are conveyed in the real world,” it added.
“Sure they can cry on command, be mellow, laugh with genuine-sounding laughter, but altogether, they do not create a symphony of realness in them. It’s like picking every green leaf you can see, throwing it into a bowl, and then calling it a salad,” the post further said.
“I think that for this reason alone – many people just avoid watching any Filipino made movies (with some certain exceptions). And for years, no one has explained why it is what it is, or why it even happens. These actors and actresses undergo several acting workshops to improve their dramatic skills, but only a handful of them are ever authentic,” the post said.

The post then went on to enumerate a couple of things that the author think might be the reason for the above analysis.
Near the end of the post, the author said it would support Philippine cinema if they would be able to produce actors who are able to display a “full range of emotions.”
“And year after year, these script writers and directors are guilt-tripping us on why we don’t support Philippine-made movies. I’ll support Philippine movies the moment they produce actors who can show a full range of emotions with just their eyes or in complete silence,” the post concluded.
Because of this, Carla challenged the page and the post’s author to witness her do things that the author said they can’t and won’t do, adding that she’s going to do it without cameras.
“Dear Imperial Patriarch, I will gladly show you how it’s so easy to do what you say we can’t and don’t do. No cameras. Just you, me, and a few minutes of your time. Tara,” Carla said in her post on Instagram Stories.

About a month ago, Carla posted a photo of a car with a quote card attached to its back. In the photo, the quote card talked about women and men and their supposed role in the house and society. However, the quote card did not sit well with the actress who shared her reaction to it on social media. Needless to say, Carla’s post stirred much buzz on social media after its posting on Instagram.
