The driver of the passenger bus was among the injured, together with his 13 passengers.
Meanwhile, the train operator wasn’t harmed from the incident.
Based on the initial investigations, the passenger bus was from Pasay City going to Legaspi City, Albay.
When it’s already near the railway, the train reportedly made all efforts to warn the bus, but the bus still proceeded.
According to the report, it’s possible that the bus didn’t hear the train’s horns, that’s why it ended up being hit by the train.
Additionally, the area also lacked enough lighting, resulting in the railway to be also dark during the time of the incident.
“Wala ata silang flagman during sa mga oras na ganyan. Pero, meron silang mga early warning sign. ‘Yung tren, malayo pa, nagbubusina na,” said P/Cpl. JONARD BUFETE, SPOKESPERSON, NABUA POLICE.
As of this writing, some of the injured victims are currently recovering in the hospital.
