April said her baby was still taking in milk and diligently drinking her prescribed medicine. Although the vomiting stopped, the diarrhea persisted.

By that afternoon, the child’s condition worsened, prompting her parents to rush her to the hospital.

There, the toddler began experiencing seizures, an on-and-off fever, and visible darkening of her skin. Sadly, she did not survive the night.

“Di baling lumabas sana ng buhay, kahit magkano, kakayanin yan, diskarte lang,” said April tearfully, expressing her desperation and willingness to face any hardship just to save her daughter.

“Hirap na hirap kami lahat na. Yung gastos nun, bibilhan mo yung anak mo ng damit na pamburol,” she added, highlighting the emotional and financial pain of preparing for her baby’s funeral.

She died from acute gastroenteritis with severe dehydration, according to her death certificate

The incident underscores the dangers of severe dehydration and the urgency of early medical intervention for gastroenteritis, especially in children.

April’s heartbreaking account serves as a warning to other parents to monitor symptoms closely and seek immediate care when signs of severe illness emerge.

The grieving family now faces not only the loss of a child but the weight of hospital and funeral expenses.
