The woman’s sudden appearance from the manhole along a busy Makati street sparked widespread online attention and concern.

Many netizens expressed sympathy and called for immediate government action, suspecting she may be suffering from mental health issues or experiencing homelessness.

The DSWD emphasized that her case will be handled with dignity and care under the agency’s Pag-abot Program, which aims to reach out to individuals in street situations and connect them with services such as shelter, medical care, and psychosocial support.

Authorities have yet to disclose further details regarding the woman’s identity or background, citing privacy and the need to complete the initial evaluation.

The agency encouraged the public to report similar cases through proper channels so that immediate assistance and intervention can be provided to vulnerable individuals in need.

The situation serves as a reminder of the growing need for accessible mental health and social services, especially for those living in extreme poverty or abandonment.
