Animals possibly poached in Pueblo, authorities asking for help
Pueblo, Colo. (KKTV) -Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is asking for your help after they believe two animals were killed in poaching cases in Pueblo.
Police are looking for suspects and they say these animals were killed earlier this month.
The first suspected poaching happened back on September 1st where a pronghorn was killed near the Swallows State Wildlife Area in Pueblo West.
An officer with CPW tells 11 News this is a common dove hunting area and they’re asking if any dove hunters saw anything out of the ordinary to reach out to them. CPW also says a second poaching took place less than a week ago, where a mule deer was shot and killed near Kestrel Beach and Rock Canyon Rd. at Lake Pueblo State Park.
The Public Information Officer for CPW, Travis Duncan says, “The wildlife of Colorado belong to the people of Colorado.” Duncan continues saying, “It’s a public trust and Colorado Parks and Wildlife protects that wildlife for the people.”
CPW also wants to remind you if you see anything unusual and you suspect it may be poaching, it’s important to give them a call and make a report so officers can investigate it. If you would like to remain anonymous, you can call Operation Game Theft at 877-265-6648.
