After being delisted from Steam, brutally tough shooter Rollerdrome is back

Roll7 is responsible for some of the most compelling and visually striking action games to come out in the last decade. The studio is responsible for ultra tough skateboarding games OlliOlli and OlliOlli World as well as fast-paced shooters like Not a Hero and, more recently, the rollerblading focused Rollerdrome. Unfortunately, Roll7 closed up shop in 2024 and, earlier this year, even worse news came when both Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World were pulled from Steam. Just now, though, both of these delisted games have returned to Valve’s platform and are available for purchase again.

This is more than welcome as both Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World are excellent action games. As the modern sports genre leans more into simulation than the immediate joys of arcade-y thrills, the kind of work Roll7 was doing — blending straightforward action with sports — provided something missing from the current videogame landscape.

Rollerdrome, especially, is a strong example of the success of the studio’s approach. It combines Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater’s emphasis on stringing together trick combos with the high mobility third-person shootouts of games like Vanquish or Hi-Fi Rush. The result is a demanding but satisfying action game that feels enormously unique and looks fantastic, thanks to its distinct visual style.
