A bunch of high-quality PC games just went free for a limited time, because not everyone got a Switch 2

Summary

  • Deathloop and Ogu and the Secret Forest are free on the Epic Games Store for a limited time
  • Grab Deathloop for free until June 12th alongside Ogu and the Secret Forest before they become paid titles again
  • Borderlands 2 is free to keep on Steam until June 8th to build anticipation for Borderlands 4

Happy Nintendo Switch 2 release day! Did you get one? Yeah, me neither. I’m watching as my Twitch following list slowly fills up with streamers playing Mario Kart World and the introductory welcome tour. But that’s okay because we have free PC games we can play while we try to ignore how much fun everyone else is having.

Today, we have three great titles that are free to claim. They’re only free for a limited time, but you can keep them forever if you snag them before the time is up. On the Epic Game Store, we have Deathloop and Ogu and the Secret Forest, and Steam is doing a free deal for Borderlands 2 in preparation for the upcoming release of Borderlands 4.

The Epic Games Store has been giving gamers great games for free, but there’s plenty of masterpieces you might have forgotten to snag.

Deathloop and Ogu and the Secret Forest are free on the Epic Games Store for a limited time

First up, let’s check out what’s happening on the Epic Games Store. Deathloop usually costs around $60, but if you grab it between now and the 12th of June, you can score it for absolutely nothing. It’s sort of like a roguelike, where you have to kill eight Visionaries before time runs out. If you don’t make it, you’re rewound back to the start, and now you can use your newfound knowledge and expertise to find a way to score a win.

Next up is Ogu and the Secret Forest. Admittedly, I had never heard of this title before this sale, but it’s currently sitting on a respectable 93% positive review rate on Steam, so it’s doing something right. Here’s how it describes itself:

‘Ogu and the Secret Forest’ is a 2D adventure game with hand-drawn characters and various types of puzzles.

Befriend bouncy characters and defeat strange creatures to unravel the mystery of the charming world.

Ogu and the Secret Forest will also become a paid title on the 12th, so grab both titles before it’s too late.

Borderlands 2 is free to keep on Steam until June 8th

Meanwhile, Steam is also giving away a game. This one is Borderlands 2, and I’m pretty sure it needs no formal introduction. However, if you’ve never touched a Borderlands game before, you’re in for a treat:

A new era of shoot and loot is about to begin. Play as one of four new vault hunters facing off against a massive new world of creatures, psychos and the evil mastermind, Handsome Jack. Make new friends, arm them with a bazillion weapons and fight alongside them in 4 player co-op on a relentless quest for revenge and redemption across the undiscovered and unpredictable living planet.

The sale is to help drum up interest in the upcoming Borderlands 4, so be sure to give it a try if you’re curious. Just be warned that this game will go back to being paid on the 8th, so you have to be quick.
