A new rumor claims Fortnite will soon crossover with the iconic horror franchise Saw. Fortnite is fresh off its most recent Marvel collaboration, which arrived with the Chapter 5 Season 4 update.
Shortly after Epic Games released the September 17 update, Fortnite leakers and data miners, including Xgamer360, analyzed several new files added to the game with v31.20, discovering a potential teaser for the next Fortnitemares event. They found a texture of Billy the Puppet, an iconic franchise doll used by Jigsaw in Saw. Well-known leakers such as ShiinaBR suggest that Epic Games will debut the collaboration for a new Halloween-themed Fortnitemares event this October. It must be noted, however, that the files did not reveal the texture’s purpose and if it will arrive in-game. Epic Games has also yet to confirm Fortnitemares for 2024 after last year’s event added iconic characters from Halloween and Alan Wake.
Another recent Fornite rumor indicated that Fortnite OG 2 would arrive at the tail end of Chapter 5, Season 4, set to conclude on November 2, 2024. Epic Games allowed players to relive Chapter 1, Season 5 in Fortnite OG. Players revisited iconic locations, including Loot Lake, Pleasant Parks, and Lazy Links, and used classic weapons like the SCAR, the Pump Shotgun, and the Bolt-Action Sniper. Fortnite OG 2 will reportedly build on the first event’s success by bringing the map, weapons, and more.
Another Saw Franchise Installment is In the Works
Saw is one of the longest-running movie franchises and an eleventh installment is currently in development. Saw XI will arrive on September 26, 2025. Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw VI (2009), Saw: The Final Chapter (2010), and Saw X (2023), will return to direct the upcoming Saw XI. Lionsgate originally intended the movie to premiere on September 27, 2024, fast-tracking the sequel after the critical and commercial success of 2023’s Saw X.
Saw X writers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger will, however, not return to pen the script, much to fan disappointment. “Pete and I are sitting this chapter out. Very excited to see this one as a fan of the franchise. I think people will be pleased with the team,” Stolberg wrote on X.
A Fortnite and Saw Halloween-themed collaboration will reportedly arrive for a Fortnitemares event in October 2024.
