The heads of major Korean conglomerates will participate in a business delegation visiting the Philippines and Singapore from Oct. 6 to 9 on the occasion of the Korea-ASEAN Summit in Laos next month.

The visit will take place three weeks after Korean business leaders accompany President Yoon Suk Yeol on his visit to the Czech Republic between Sept. 19 and 22.

Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong is expected to visit both the Philippines and Singapore. The Philippines is home to Samsung’s R&D facility and Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ factory, while Singapore houses Samsung Electronics’ Southeast Asian headquarters.

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Chung Euisun will reportedly participate in a business forum in Singapore.

Last November, Chung met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during a ceremony to celebrate the completed construction of the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore.

Hanwha Group Vice Chairman Kim Dong-kwan is said to be planning to visit Singapore, where Hanwha Ocean established a subsidiary to acquire a local offshore plant company.

Last September, he visited the country to encourage the shipbuilder’s employees, who introduced their company’s eco-friendly technologies at the Gastech industry conference, the world’s largest gas technologies show.

HD Hyundai Vice Chairman Chung Ki-sun, who also attended Gastech in Singapore last year, will likely visit the Philippines, where HD Hyundai Heavy Industries runs a shipyard in Subic Bay.

The shipbuilder also has a track record in receiving orders to maintain, repair and overhaul the Southeast Asian country’s naval ships.
