Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition could have 200MP camera

In the next few weeks, Samsung is expected to unveil a slimmer version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Ahead of its rumored October release date, details related to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition’s cameras have leaked. Last week, it was revealed that the phone has an upgraded under-display front camera, and now, its primary camera specification has leaked.

Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition’s primary camera could match Galaxy S24 Ultra’s

Leakster Evan Blass, who is generally extremely accurate, has hinted at the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition’s primary camera. According to them, the upcoming foldable phone could feature a 200MP primary camera with 2x optical quality zoom. This is similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s primary camera, which uses a 200MP ISOCELL HP3 sensor. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition could also use the same sensor for similar performance.

It was already revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will have a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP selfie camera (cover screen), and a 5MP under-display camera (inner foldable screen). The only things we don’t know about the upcoming foldable phone’s camera are its telephoto sensor resolution and optical zoom level.

While enthusiasts like us hope to see a 48MP telephoto camera on the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, Samsung is unlikely to use a high-resolution telephoto camera on that device owing to its thinness, which is said to be 10.6mm when closed.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition reportedly features a 6.5-inch cover screen (6.3-inch on Z Fold 6) and an 8-inch foldable screen (7.6-inch on Z Fold 6). It measures 4.9mm when unfolded and 10.6mm when folded. Since the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition might also have the same IP rating. Reports indicate it could have a titanium backplate but lack S Pen compatibility.

Owing to its bigger size, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition might have a battery with a higher capacity than the one inside the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, that is just a speculation for now. The device will reportedly be launched only in China and South Korea, which is apt considering its name.
