Nintendo to end 2DS, New Nintendo 3DS, & New Nintendo 3DS XL repairs in Japan (UPDATE)

Nintendo ended 3DS repairs here in North America some time ago, but the platform has been supported ever since in Japan. Unfortunately for Japanese gamers, that time is soon coming to an end.

Nintendo has confirmed that they’ll be stopping repairs for the Nintendo 2DS, New Nintendo 3DS, and New Nintendo 3DS LL (XL in the west) sometime in the near future. There’s no exact date for the end of service, as Nintendo says they’ll continue repairs until their inventory of spare parts runs out.

While it’s nice to know owners in Japan still have some time to get things fixed up, it’s clear Nintendo is running low on parts for the platform. It’s only a matter of time now until anyone experiencing issues with the 3DS will have to go with a third party to get things fixed up.

UPDATE: Nintendo has stated that they’ve officially run out of spare parts for the New Nintendo 3DS, which means repairs have officially come to a close for the device. Repairs remain open for the 2DS and New 3DS LL for the time being.
