Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has been crowned the Esports Mobile Game of the Year presented by Honor at the Esports Awards 2024, held at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This marks the second consecutive year that MLBB has taken home the award with previous winners going to the likes of PUBG: Battlegrounds and Free Fire. 

Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at Moontoon Games, accepted the award, while expressing gratitude to the MLBB community, Esports teams, organisers, and partners. “We continue to build an open ecosystem which is diverse, inclusive, and competitive to bring the best experience for our players and fans around the world,” Ray said during his acceptance speech.

The award comes after a busy year for MLBB Esports which includes notable achievements such as: 

  • The MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024 emerged as the most popular title at the inaugural Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with 2,382,990 peak concurrent viewers.
  • MLBB events amassed most of the mobile Esports viewership in 2023 with eight of the most popular mobile tournaments belonging to the game.
  • The M5 World Championship in December 2023 had 5.06 million peak concurrent viewers.
  • MLBB was the most-watched mobile gaming Esports category of 2023, accumulating 530.16 million hours watched.

The Esports Awards 2024 winners are based on votes from a panel of judges and fans. There are various categories including Esports games, publishers, teams, players, and streamers. Other winners for this year’s 2024 Esports Awards included Riot Games’ Valorant, which took home the Esports Game of the Year award, Riot Games also won the Esports Publisher of the Year award, and rivers_GG bagged Streamer of the Year award but not without controversy
