The Real Cricket mobile game’s new deal with the World Cricketers Association adds NIL rights to several key markets, enabling it to add more than 250 players from areas such as Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. to its existing roster of regions such as Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.

The goal is to expand its audience to other cricket-playing countries after the sport’s successful debut at the Paris Games — Real Cricket has over 350 million downloads and 1 million active players — with the idea that some will pay for in-game transactions in this free-to-play game for iOS and Google Play. Real Cricket studio Nautilus Mobile worked with the WCA’s commercial affiliate, Winners Alliance, on the deal.

“There is also tremendous opportunity as cricket as a sport continues to gain popularity in newer markets like the U.S.,” a Nautilus Mobile spokesperson said. “As new audiences are introduced to the sport, Real Cricket provides audiences the opportunity to engage with the sport and numerous of its top players in an immersive and realistic gaming environment.”

Players coming to Real Cricket include Australia’s Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc; England’s Joe Root and Ben Stokes; New Zealand’s Kane Williamson; South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada; and the West Indies’ Chris Gayle and Andre Russell.  As of now, the only gear brand that appears in Real Cricket is Gray-Nicolls, which makes bats and teamwear.

Per Sensor Tower (a part of the Circana date-tracking firm), Real Cricket 24 is No. 24 in worldwide downloads among sports game (both iOS and Android, not counting China) and No. 120 in in-app purchase revenue (not counting ad revenue). India had the most downloads with 81%, with Pakistan charting No. 2 at 14% and the U.S. third at 1%. India is also its No. 1 region for revenue.
