Jamie the Beloved Labrador’s Birthday Gifts Hope to Other Animals

A beloved black Labrador named Jamie recently enjoyed his 10th birthday party with his community in Betty’s Bay! Here, his birthday wish—to make a difference for animals in need—successfully came true thanks to food donation gifts for the Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society!

Betty’s Bay, South Africa (26 August 2024) — At the paw-shaped heart of the Betty’s Bay community is a beautiful black Labrador named Jamie, who recently celebrated his 10th birthday.

With Labrador-themed ‘pupcakes’ (dog-friendly cupcakes) and treats aplenty, the dog of the hour, along with members of the Betty’s Bay community, seven of his litter siblings and even his dog dad, Frankie, celebrated the big day at Coffee On Clarence—the spot where cupcakes often double as uplifting love letters to residents of the town; celebrating everything from the penguins to the people and their pursuits.

While Jamie and his siblings’ 10th birthday marked a special occasion for the dog family, it also brought forth the opportunity to make a difference for other dogs in need.

Jamie’s birthday wish was not just to celebrate with goodies and his favourite humans, but to gift other animals support. In this spirit, the birthday festivities doubled as a food drive for the animals of the Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society (KAWS)!

Thanks to community members in Betty’s Bay, food donations were gifted to KAWS in yet another example of how a call to celebrate can double as a cause to support.

But the chance to make a difference for KAWS doesn’t stop here. The Kleinmond KAWS Karnival is just around the corner where everyone in the area is invited to enjoy the start of spring all while making tails wag.

On 24 September, there’ll be a Fun Run event, competitions (including a sandcastle challenge), stalls and great food that will help KAWS continue their important work for the animals of Kleinmond.

You can find out more about the KAWS Karnival here.
