Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?

A: I established a pet sitting business due to my lifelong affinity and bond with animals, particularly cats. Drawing from my background as a former certified veterinary technician, I possess the expertise to cater to the unique requirements of each feline companion. I envisioned offering cat sitting services as my professional pursuit.

Q: How did you get your start?

A: I initiated my business by reading books about pet sitting. Subsequently, I advertised in the Guide News, in addition to securing a listing in the Yellow Pages. Presently, I’ve expanded my online presence with a Google Business page, Facebook page, Instagram and other social media platforms.

Q: What does your business sell or provide?

A: I provide a range of services tailored to meet the needs of cats and their owners while they are away. Most importantly care of the cats ensuring they are provided with fresh food and water according to their dietary needs and schedules. I also administer medications such as insulin or thyroid medication. Providing companionship and socialization is part of my care routine. Litter box maintenance, bringing in the mail and adjusting the lights are also on the list of services. I keep good communication with the owners by providing regular updates with pictures via a dedicated online portal about their cat’s well-being and activities while they are away. My service goal is to ensure the well-being and happiness of the cats in my care while providing peace of mind to their owners.

Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now?

A: Balancing the demands of caring for cats keeps me occupied, often making it challenging to schedule time off. As a cat sitter, my availability spans throughout the year, including holidays and weekends, making it tricky to carve out days for myself.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?

A: Some of my favorite things to do in Cumberland County is going out to eat downtown and brief hikes along the Appalachian Trail.
