President BBM congratulates President Donald Trump on historic US presidential election win

– President Bongbong Marcos, in a statement posted on social media, congratulated presumptive 2024 president-elect Donald Trump on his projected win

President Bongbong Marcos, in an official statement posted on his Instagram account, congratulated presumptive 2024 president-elect Donald Trump on his projected win in the 2024 US presidential elections.

PBBM, in the beginning of his statement, said “President Trump has won,” and then went on to congratulate the American people on once again showing the world their strength when it comes to “American values.”

“President Trump has won, and the American people have triumphed. I congratulate them on their victory in an exercise that showed the world the strength of American values,” PBBM said in his statement.

He then said that he’s looking forward to working with the new administration under President Trump, expressing hopes they could work on a broad range of issues that could yield mutual benefits for both the US and the Philippines.

“We look forward to working with President Trump on a wide range of issues that will yield mutual benefits for two nations with deep ties, shared beliefs, a common vision, and a long history of working together,” President Marcos said in his statement.

“I am hopeful that this unshakeable alliance, tested in war and peace, will be a force for good, blazing a path of prosperity and amity in the region and on both sides of the Pacific,” he added.

“This is a durable partnership to which the Philippines is fully committed, because it is founded on the ideals we share: freedom and democracy,” PBBM said.

He then expressed confidence in the “robust leadership” of the presumptive president-elect and in parting, congratulated President Trump once again.

“I have personally met President Trump as a young man, so I know that his robust leadership will result in a better future for all of us. Congratulations, President Trump!” President Bongbong Marcos said.

Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr., also more popularly known as BBM or PBBM, is the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines. He also served as Governor of Ilocos Norte in 1983, holding that office until the ouster of his father, President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. In 1998, he was elected again as Governor of Ilocos Norte and served for three terms and later ran and won a seat in the Philippine Senate during the 2010 elections. He served as Philippine Senator until 2016. He ran for Vice-President during the 2016 elections but was unsuccessful and in 2022, he ran for president and won with a landslide victory.

A couple of weeks ago, PBBM went to the Sorsogon Sports Arena where he met former Vice President Leni Robredo and former senator Bam Aquino. Photos of their jovial greeting and handshake has gone viral. Camille Villar was also with them, and who likewise was smiling when the former VP and the President greeted each other. Sen. Chiz Escudero said that the meeting was very symbolic since it transpired in a sports arena.

Several days before his visit, PBBM attended the 27th ASEAN-Japan Summit in Lao PDR where he urged fellow leaders to uphold maritime security and cooperation. He also enumerated the different incidents of harassment of China in the West Philippine Sea, in front of Chinese Premiere Li Qiang. In addition, the President hailed the commitment of Japan in terms of partnering for peace and stability. He also called to expedite the formation of the code of conduct in the area.
