Medina County SPCA calls on all pets and pet lovers for Paws for the Cause

MEDINA, Ohio — Animal lovers and their furry, four-legged friends will have the chance to get some exercise together on Oct. 19.

And while they’re at it, they can raise funds for the Medina County SPCA, during the 11th annual Paws for the Cause 5K and 1-mile Walk.

Both the 5k and 1-mile walk will begin in Medina’s historic square. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race will start at 9 a.m.

Participants can pick up their race packets early from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at Second Sole, 122 Public Square in Medina.

Registration is $40 through Oct. 18 and $45 the day of the race.

“Our Paws for the Cause event drew over 250 participants in 2023, as well as nearly 100 pets,” stated a news release from the Medina County SPCA.

“Companies, their employees and families can all come together again to help promote advocacy through a healthy and fun activity for a worthy cause to prevent animal cruelty, abuse and neglect.

“All proceeds directly benefit the animals we serve throughout Medina County.”

Awards will be given for the top finishers of the 5K race in different age groups, as well as an award for the first dog.

Human registered participants will receive a T-shirt and pets will receive a bandana.

The SPCA requires dogs to be on a leash that is 6 feet long or shorter at all times. Retractable leashes are not allowed.

Anyone interested in registering can go to www.medinacountyspca.com. The website also includes maps of the 5k and the fun walk.
