PC gamers will finally get to play masterpiece 95-rated game 14 years after its release

PC gaming is unmatched when it comes to the number and variety of games one can play, yet some of the greatest titles ever made are still confined to consoles old and new.

One such game has been locked to PlayStation and Xbox consoles for a decade and a half, but this is about to change very soon.

Rockstar Games has just revealed that it will release Red Dead Redemption to PC on October 29, 2024.

The publisher just posted a trailer on YouTube showcasing the new release’s enhanced visuals.

The game originally launched for PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2010, and only recently got versions for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

With a review rating of 95 on review aggregator Metacritic for its original versions, Red Dead Redemption has been unanimously praised as one of the best games of all time.

Finally, after more than 14 years, gamers will get to experience outlaw John Marston’s journey through an American Frontier in decline, natively on PC.

The new PC version of Red Dead Redemption is not a remaster nor a remake, but rather an enhanced port that will add some improvements specific to PC.

PC gamers will be able to play in native 4K resolution at 144 fps for the smoothest experience.

The port also takes advantage of modern upscaling tech, such as Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0, to enhance quality and performance.

Those who have ultrawide and super ultrawide monitors are covered too, and there will be HDR10 support for high contrast and brighter colours on monitors that support it.

Red Dead Redemption will be released on PC together with its zombie-themed expansion, Undead Nightmare, just on time for Halloween.

The new release will be available through Steam, Epic Games Store and Rockstar’s own digital store and launcher.

You can already wishlist the game on Steam but pre-orders are not open yet.

We still don’t know the price of Red Dead Redemption on PC, but Rockstar Games promised more details later this week.

With the release of Red Dead Redemption, PC gamers can finally play both the original story and its prequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, which has been available on the platform since 2019.
