Hong Kong police probe alleged animal abuse after dog treated at clinic for blistered skin

Hong Kong police are investigating a suspected animal abuse case after a 14-year-old mini Doberman was brought to a clinic with blistered skin and fur falling out.

The force on Sunday night that it had received a report at 6.50pm from the dog’s owner, who alleged its wounds were inflicted by his domestic helper.

Images shared with the media outlets by the owner also showed the skin along the dog’s back had become blistered and clumps of its fur had fallen out.

Police are handling the incident as an animal cruelty case, with officers from the Eastern district investigation team to follow up. No arrests have been made so far.

The owner said his domestic helper had been responsible for the dog’s care, adding the animal had been suffering from diarrhoea for several days and had stopped eating.

The man said he brought the dog to a veterinary clinic in Ching Wah Street in North Point after discovering it was bleeding from a wound along its back.
