Hysterics as Cat ‘Caught Red Handed’ Trying To Steal Pasta

A cat has left the internet in stitches after being caught red-handed trying to swipe some pasta, only to get his claw stuck in a colander.

The moment was shared by Charlotte (@furandfishnets) on Instagram, where the video garnered more than 42,000 likes and 1.2 million views, delighting viewers with the feline’s culinary caper.

In the clip with the overlaid text “caught red handed,” Charlotte’s cat can be seen helplessly attempting to free his claw after leaping over the sink to snatch some remaining spaghetti. “He thought he was so sneaky,” she captioned the video, perfectly capturing the cat’s not-so-stealthy escapade. Thankfully, Charlotte managed to step in and rescue her pet from his pasta predicament.

While some viewers were quick to point out the less-than-ideal hygiene of a cat fishing for food on the counter, many couldn’t help but laugh at the situation.

Cats are naturally curious creatures, and their love for climbing often leads them to kitchen counters in search of food.

This behavior can not only be a nuisance but it can also pose hygiene concerns. Experts recommend a few strategies to deter cats from these countertop adventures. Providing alternative perches, such as cat trees or window ledges, gives them a safe place to climb while staying out of the kitchen.

Additionally, keeping food securely stored and using deterrents like aluminum foil or double-sided tape on surfaces can make counters less appealing to your feline friend. Regular training and consistency are key to keeping them grounded.

Others found humor in how relaxed the cat remained throughout the ordeal, despite his tangled claw. “I’m surprised it stayed in the sink and didn’t fall over with the cat and pasta all over the floor because the loud clang of the strainer falling will freak out the cat. Maybe my cats are different?” commented Dave.

“My cat would’ve freaked out and would’ve flung it everywhere,” agreed Lauren.

Viewers also joined in on imagining the cat’s internal monologue, with one user joking, “And I’ll DO EET AGAIN.” Another added, “The fact that he didn’t bite her after the rescue mission amazes me. This cat must be a paid actor!”

Of course, no viral cat video is complete without a pun, and one viewer simply wrote, “Caught red pawed.”
