17 Davao City Candidates File SOCE Ahead of June 11 Deadline

A TOTAL of 17 candidates in the 2025 national and local elections in Davao City have filed their Statements of Contributions and Expenses (Soce) ahead of the looming deadline on June 11, 2025, according to the Commission on Elections-Davao City (Comelec-Davao City).

According to the Office of the Election Officer for the First District, four candidates for councilor have filed Soce as of June 6, 2025, out of 23 total candidates. The office also revealed that none of the five candidates for the House of Representatives in the First District have submitted their Soce.

In the Second District, one candidate for the House of Representatives, out of three, and four candidates for councilor, out of 25, have submitted their Soce, according to the Office of the Election Officer for the Second District.

Meanwhile, in the Third District, five city councilor bets out of 27, and one congressional candidate out of five, have filed their Soce as of June 6.

The office also reported that one vice mayoral candidate out of four, and one mayoral candidate out of five, have submitted Soce.

Lawyer Shajani M. Ebrahim, chairperson of the Board of Canvassers and Third District Election Officer, said in a text message that the submission of Soces is still ongoing.

“So far ongoing po ang receiving namin ng Soce (So far our receiving for SOCE is still ongoing),” she said on June 6, 2025.

Earlier, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) stated that it would not extend the deadline for Soce filing for the May 12, 2025, midterm elections.

George Garcia, Comelec chairperson, said on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, that there are no plans to grant an extension and reiterated that the deadline remains June 11. He emphasized that the deadline had been announced well in advance.

“Therefore, you have to face the consequences of non-filing of Soce,” he said.

Comelec warned that any candidate who fails to submit their Soce will not be allowed to assume office and may face administrative sanctions. Those who comply will be issued a Certificate of Formal Compliance, which must be submitted upon assuming office.

All Soces must be submitted in a prescribed number of hard copies, accompanied by a soft/electronic copy in both PDF and Excel formats.

The office also emphasized that the filing of Soces through registered mail, email, courier, or messenger services is prohibited.RGP with reports from PNA
