The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) successfully rescued 11 female individuals, including four minors and one pregnant woman, who were allegedly being exploited for carnal services.

Two suspects were apprehended during the sting.

The NBI-Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-OTCD) acted on actionable intelligence indicating that the swimming party served as a deceptive front for a prost1tution ring.

According to Ferdinand Lavin, spokesperson for the NBI, this modus operandi is designed to conceal illicit activities, making it appear as a legitimate social gathering.

“Ito ay isang modus upang kung makita itong mga kabataan, itong mga kababaihan sa isang resort, ay kunwari nag-a-outing lang. So hindi ito masyadong halata,” Lavin stated, explaining how the guise of an outing at a resort helps mask the true nature of the operation.

Investigators revealed that the alleged perpetrators were offering the females for carnal services at prices ranging from P3,000 to P5,000 per individual.

The NBI emphasized that such acts constitute a clear form of exploitation, preying on the vulnerabilities of the victims.

Lavin further elaborated on the nature of the crime, asserting, “Ito ay isang pamamaraan ng human traff1cking ay panlilinlang at ‘yung pag-exploit ng kanilang vulnerability, ‘yung kanilang kahirapan, murang edad kung kaya’t nagkakaroon ng ganitong klaseng mga activities.”

This highlights how human traff1cking often involves deception and targets individuals based on their economic hardship and young age.

The rescue operation involved an entrapment, leading to the arrest of the two alleged perpetrators.

Despite the evidence gathered by the NBI, both suspects vehemently denied the accusations of pimping.

One suspect asserted, “Bibigyan daw po kami ng pera kaya nga naging interesado rin po kami. Hindi po ako nagsisinungaling! Wala po akong history ng bugaw-bugaw.” (We were told we would be given money, that’s why we became interested. I’m not lying! I have no history of pimping.)

The other suspect also offered a defense, claiming, “Ako po ‘yung kausap tapos po, dalawa po kami ng kaibigan ko na kumontak sa mga babae. Pero wala po kaming usapan na kahit isa na may ibebenta pong babae.” (I was the one talking, and my friend and I contacted the girls. But there was no agreement whatsoever to sell any girl.)

Despite their denials, the two suspects have been formally charged with qualified human traff1cking, a grave offense under Philippine law that carries severe penalties.

Human traff1cking, a global issue, often involves coercion, deception, and exploitation for various purposes, including carnal exploitation.

The NBI’s persistent efforts aim to dismantle such networks and protect potential victims.

The 11 rescued individuals are set to undergo immediate intervention and protective custody. This typically involves psychological support, trauma counseling, and assistance in reintegrating into society, aiming to help them recover from their ordeal and prevent re-victimization.

The NBI continues to appeal to the public for vigilance and cooperation in reporting suspicious activities that may be indicative of human traff1cking, reinforcing the collective responsibility in combating this crime.
