SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF)- Calling all gamers, there is a one-of-a-kind gaming lounge that just opened its doors in Surfside Beach.

What was once an empty building along Highway 17 Business has become a unique experience for locals and visitors. A local non-profit, Beachfront Blessings, officially opened up Low Tide Gaming.

“This is a big deal,” said Will Pamplin, general manager of Low Tide Gaming. “I have never done anything like this before, so having so much support from the community means a lot to me.”

The sensory-friendly atmosphere has something for all ages.

“It has been an idea for us for several years now,” said Bo Pamplin, President of Beachfront Blessings. “Will, our son, is on the spectrum and has sensory issues. We wanted to find a place that is not only for everybody who is a gamer and wants to have fun but a place that is also comfortable and sensory friendly.

No matter what console, each gaming station has noise-cancelling headphones, adjustable lighting, and customizable seating to accommodate sensory needs.

“We have everything for all ages, PS5s, Xbox, arcade machines,” said Pamplin. “We have retro arcade games like the Atari 2600, just a little bit of everything.”

Eden Alon is an avid gamer who also owns his own business. He expressed that he had to come to support.

“When you think about the word disability, you associate it with something negative or you cannot do this, but in actuality, a disability just is,” said Alon. “For us, we have to navigate barriers to try to empower ourselves to open stuff like this. We have to advocate for ourselves.”

Low Tide Gaming allows gamers who are local and visiting to play all day in a safe space for $25.
