Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Tab S10 Series and Galaxy Fit3 arrive this October 2024

Samsung are set to release not just one, but three new devices this month. Let’s all welcome the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Tab S10 Series, and Galaxy Fit3!

As they are yearly releases, many would have expected the Galaxy S24 FE and Galaxy Tab S10 Series’ arrival, but their new tablet devices see quite a big change. There’s also the matter of the revival of Samsung’s fitness tracker in the form of the Galaxy Fit3. 

We take a look at what the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Tab S10 Series, and Galaxy Fit3 offer when people get their hands on it later this month.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE

Samsung’s ‘value-centric’ Fan Edition line is back with the Galaxy S24 FE. This time, you’re getting a bigger phone – the AMOLED display is now 6.7 inches compared to last year’s 6.4 inches. And the slimmer bezels further emphasise the huge screen.

No Snapdragon chip as expected. Instead, it is the Exynos 2400e chipset powering the device. While it may be a lower-end processor than the one inside the regular Galaxy S24 models, Samsung still touts some of its performance for gaming, notably bringing Ray Tracing support. The vapour chamber inside the Galaxy S24 FE is also 1.1x larger than the Galaxy S23 FE.

The processor will also be handling Galaxy AI, which comes to the FE line for the first time. Users will be able to take advantage of features such as Circle to Search, Interpreter, Live Translate, Note Assist, and more during daily use. Photography tricks like generative edits and instant slow motion are also featured on the phone.

Speaking of photography, the Galaxy S24 FE has a triple-camera setup that includes a  50-megapixel primary lens, 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens at the back. The ProVisual Engine, which Samsung describes as “an AI-driven camera

engine that takes visual quality to incredible heights”, also makes its debut in the FE series here. 

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Series

The tablet line from Samsung also receives its next iteration in the form of the Galaxy Tab S10 Series, but the transition brings about more change than we would have thought.

Firstly, there isn’t a base Galaxy Tab S10 model on offer. Only the 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and 12.4-inch Galaxy Tab S10+ come as part of the new tablet series. It’s a strange pivot from Samsung, though it could be due to them focusing more on larger display tablets which have less competition. The displays themselves have anti-reflective coatings which should minimise glare on the screen.

Another change is the switch to a different brand of processor. Like the Galaxy S24 FE, Samsung has bid farewell to Snapdragon and has instead run into the arms of MediaTek, specifically their Dimensity 9300 Plus chip. The new chip delivers an 18% increase in the CPU, a 28% increase in the  GPU, and a 14% increase in the NPU for AI processing power.

Galaxy AI has been available for the previous Galaxy Tab S9 series through an update, but the Galaxy Tab S10 line has it baked in. With the more powerful processor, users should be able to get better performance from features like Sketch to Image and Note Assist. There’s also a new  Galaxy AI key on the compatible Book Cover Keyboard that helps to easily launch AI Assistant apps.

The Galaxy Tab S10 retains the massive battery capacities of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra (11,200 mAh) and Galaxy Tab S10+ (10,090 mAh) and another returning element is the IP68 dust and water resistance.

Samsung Galaxy Fit3

Coming alongside the Galaxy S24 FE and Galaxy Tab S10 Series is the Galaxy Fit3, which is Samsung’s latest fitness tracking device. 

The Galaxy Fit3 was announced in February this year, but now makes its way to Singapore for the first time. Its arrival may have been delayed, but it’s better late than never for the device, given that it took nearly four years before the Galaxy Fit line got a successor.

The device comes with a larger 1.6-inch AMOLED display, which is 45% bigger than the Fit2. With its  208 mAh battery, it touts 13 days of use on a single charge. Over 100 types of workouts are supported on the Galaxy Fit3 and it also is able to track sleep patterns and stress levels.

Availability

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE can be purchased now, starting at S$1,028 for the 256GB model. Meanwhile, both the Galaxy Tab S10 Series and Galaxy Fit3 will be available on 10 October 2024, with the tablet line starting at S$1,401 while the fitness tracker is priced at S$88.
