Epic Games’ State of Unreal Event Promises Fortnite Collabs and Switch 2 Hype
Epic is all set to launch another State of Fortnite, and the fans are losing their minds over what could possibly be unveiled. Since the clock ticks 24 hours down to the year of announcements, we have heard grungy rumors about multiple Fortnite updates dropping possibly including some collabs to Creative, and, shock, there could be a sneak peek of Fortnite on the so-called Nintendo Switch 2.
It is going so fast, thanks to Nintendo reportedly being one of the sponsors of the event. This alone has put the players into overdrive speculating about the possible presence of Fortnite running on the next-gen Switch hardware. And, if the Switch 2 is truly capable of handling the Unreal Engine 5, as the leaks are suggesting, then oh boy, that’s going to be an extremely loud sight for Fortnite.
But wait, there is more. Live viewership for this event will be from the Unreal Engine’s YouTube and Twitch channels, and rumors mention it will come with some major big Creative mode updates. Players are already conjuring such wild forecasts as those Star Wars, Marvel, and Avatar mythics getting into Creative. “Watch them announce 8 new movement mechanics tied to the spacebar,” a player joked. Like, why?? But also… kinda here for it?
Collabs seem to also be the hot topic right now. Some gamers are begging for an official One Piece collab announcement, while the others are side-eying all the crossovers we see lately. One player stated, “Collabs should be special like they used to be, not shoved down our throats.” Oof. Another countered with, “Nah, most players love them, so good luck with that take.” That discussion is real.
Either way, the Disney Speedstorm crowd will wonder if Epic could drop any news on their racing game. Alan Wake could not be forgotten, however—with that one player begging, “pls Alan Wake today, pls Alan Wake today 🤞😣🤞.” Desperate it was.
So during a Fortnite event, these comeback-zero-build-tourneys pleas will also pop up, and also pour one for the Transformers stans begging for a Creative event announcement.
And that very question everybody’s wondering: Are there any UE6 teases? Probably no, somebody replied with, saying, “Unreal 6 won’t be here until 2027 or 2028.” What a sad one.
So yeah, you might wanna pop some popcorn, ’cause this is an event that is not to be missed, be it Switch 2 footage, surprise collabs, or Epic flexing its Unreal Engine muscles. Tune in tomorrow and pray for an announcement of your fave—or prepare for a meltdown on Twitter if it doesn’t.
And if Fortnite somehow ends up looking like a slideshow on Switch 2? Well… then there got to be a million memes on that.
