PHOTO: Cat whisperer also benefits from her job at cat café while living with anxiety

Allie Ferguson, cat whisperer at Catfe, finds the 24 cats she cares for everyday mitigates her anxiety, especially through panic attacks. She said her workplace is a safe environment for not just the visitors seeking animal therapy, but for her and her co-workers as well.

“I was recuperating from a panic attack and so it takes a while for me to recover like a week,” she said. “I was kind of just crying, tried to sit on my own and there was a cat named Harvey who followed me everywhere would sit on my lap and just purr and even when I left, he would still follow me.”

Catfe is located in Downtown Vancouver. All the cats living there are from Heart and Soul Dog and Cat Rescue and every animal is available for adoption.

Over 1700 cats have been adopted from Catfe since the start of their operation in 2015.
