Free Mobile Games Program by Epic Games to Launch in Q4 2024

Epic Games Store to Expand Free Game Offerings on Mobile Devices

In August this year, Epic Games launched the Epic Games Store for Android and iOS, giving users access to both Epic’s own games and third-party apps for free. Currently, the collection is quite limited, featuring only Fortnite, Fall Guys, Rocket League Sideswipe, and Postparty. However, the company has now announced plans to significantly expand its offerings by adding up to 50 third-party games to the platform, all available for free.

Free Games Program Expands to Mobile

At the Unreal Festival in Seattle, Steve Allison, Vice President and General Manager of Epic Games Store, revealed that the “free games” program will be making its way to mobile devices in the fourth quarter of this year. As part of this initiative, Epic Games plans to include up to 50 games from third-party developers available for free on the Epic Games Store. Among these upcoming additions will be Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition, which is expected to launch on Android and iOS by the end of the year.

More Third-Party Applications Coming Soon

In addition to free games, Epic Games will also bring third-party applications to the Epic Games Store around the same time. This move is part of a broader strategy to attract more users to the platform, giving them access to a wide variety of apps at no cost.

Self-Publishing Tools for Developers

To further boost its platform, Epic Games has announced that it will introduce self-publishing tools for developers in 2025. These tools will allow developers to publish their games and apps on the Epic Games Store without any intervention from Epic itself, making it a more attractive option for creators looking for an accessible platform to distribute their work.

Key Highlights of Epic Games Store Expansion

  • Expansion of Free Games: Up to 50 new third-party games will be added to the Epic Games Store, including Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition.
  • Launch Timeline: The free games program will come to mobile devices in Q4 of this year.
  • New Apps: Alongside games, the store will also start featuring a variety of third-party applications.
  • Self-Publishing Opportunity: Developers will have access to self-publishing tools starting in 2025, allowing them to publish directly without Epic’s intervention.

These new additions and initiatives are part of Epic Games‘ ongoing effort to grow its ecosystem and attract more users and developers. With an expanded collection of games and apps, plus tools to make it easier for developers to publish content, Epic aims to establish the Epic Games Store as a top destination for mobile gaming and applications.
