‘She helped a lot where I am today’: Mikee Morada says he doesn’t mind being tagged as ‘asawa ni Alex Gonzaga’

In an exclusive interview with The Philippine STAR/Latest Chika.com, Lipa vice mayor-elect Mikee Morada got candid as he shared how his wife, Alex Gonzaga, opened opportunities for him as he serves in public office in Batangas.

“I always tell everybody, Alex opened a lot of doors for me… Hindi ko rin dini-deny na she helped a lot where I am today,” he said during a one-on-one interview on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Adding, “Nung 2019, nakilala ako na ‘uy, boyfriend ni Alex.’ As her partner, I’m also an extension of her. She opened a lot of opportunities. ’Yun ’yung naging will ni lord. Nakatulong din talaga na makilala and the rest is sa akin na. How I work and how I deal with the people.”

Morada also looked back on how “God prepared him” to his married life with a TV personality.

“God prepared me. Hindi ko inexpect na magkakaroon ako ng wife na artist. I always wanted to enter the seminary. Naging kaibigan ko si Piolo [Pascual]. Nakita ko ‘yung work nila,” he recalled.

When asked about their plans to build their own family, Morada was quick to answer that they surrendered everything to God’s plan.

“We fully surrendered. With also the conscious effort na magtry pa rin at huwag sumuko pero we lived it up kung ano ‘yung ipagkaloob,” he noted.

Morada, a former city councilor, secured his spot as the new vice mayor of the city defeating incumbent vice mayor Camille Lopez during the 2025 midterm elections.
