Best Buy to host late-night openings for Nintendo Switch 2 launch

Get ready, gamers. Nintendo just unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2—its most anticipated and impressive console to date. Pre-orders for the console, games and accessories will be available April 24 at Midnight ET via the Best Buy Mobile App and BestBuy.com. Stores will have pre-orders for games and accessories beginning at the start of regular store hours.  

And for the first time in six years, customers who pre-order at Best Buy have extra to be excited about – most stores will be open at Midnight ET on launch day – June 5 – for pickup, so they can get their hands on their new Switch 2 immediately.  

“There are some moments gamers don’t forget, and one of those is the excitement and anticipation that comes with being one of the first to get the hot new console on launch night,” said Patrick McGinnis, chief merchandising officer at Best Buy. “We can’t wait to bring that moment to life with the Nintendo Switch 2, and help customers level up their gaming experience.” 

Get a late-night opening memento

Ready for the Nintendo Switch 2 late-night store opening event? Customers who pick up or purchase a console starting on June 5 at 12:01 a.m. ET get the chance to walk away with a limited-edition commemorative coin that features special Best Buy and Nintendo branding. Inventory is limited, so be sure to get to the store early for a chance to collect your coin. 

Play all summer with GameTrucks  

The excitement continues throughout the summer: we’re bringing GameTrucks to more than 100 Best Buy stores where fans can battle it out in games like Mario Kart World or experiment with the new features of the Switch 2.  

Here’s what you need to know. Over 10 weeks, GameTrucks will make stops at Best Buy stores in 10 cities across the country. The fun starts this Saturday, June 7 with GameTrucks stopping in Torrance, CA, Kissimmee, FL, Kennesaw GA, Westbury, NY and Frisco, TX. Check the Nintendo Switch 2 Summer Gaming Events page to see if a GameTruck is coming to a store near you.

• Screen size enhancements: Immerse yourself in gameplay with a larger screen and buttons on the Joy-Con™ controllers so playing is even easier.  
• Joy-Con connectivity: Make the transition between console and handheld mode seamless with magnetic connectivity for the Joy-Con controllers.
