Apple is gearing up to unveil a refreshed iPhone SE and iPad Air in early 2025, according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This update promises significant changes to both devices, including a modern design overhaul for the iPhone SE and internal improvements for the iPad Air.
iPhone SE to get a facelift
Rumours suggest the new iPhone SE will ditch the iconic home button for an all-screen design with Face ID, mirroring the look and feel of the iPhone 14 series.This represents a significant departure from the current SE model, which retains the classic design with a Touch ID button. The updated design is likely to appeal to users who prefer a more modern aesthetic and the convenience of facial recognition unlocking.
iPad Air to receive internal upgrades
While details are scarce, Gurman reports that the new iPad Air will benefit from internal improvements. This could encompass a faster processor, enhanced memory options, or an improved camera system. Apple typically maintains the overall design of the iPad Air for several generations before a more substantial overhaul.
Both the iPhone SE and iPad Air updates are expected to arrive in early 2025, suggesting a possible unveiling at a March or April event. Apple often utilises these spring events to showcase new iPad and iPhone models.
Gurman doesn’t provide specifics regarding the pricing for the new devices. The current iPhone SE starts at $429, and it remains unclear whether the design shift will lead to a price increase. The iPad Air currently starts at $599, and whether the internal upgrades will affect the price point is yet to be seen.
