How to play PlayStation games on your phone
Gone are the days of being locked to your bedroom and stuck with your console to play games. The traditional PC and console setup is something that many see as traditional and outdated. With the evolution of gaming over recent years as the digital age marches on, players can now tap into their games right on their smartphones from all corners of the world. So, whether you are on the train to work or on a beach on holiday, you can still enjoy all your favorite PlayStation games, at console-quality, on the go.
Gaming on phones
For many, the idea of gaming on phones harks back to traditional phone games such as Snake and early versions of games such as Doodle Jump. Mobile gaming was firmly in the hands of Nintendo with their Game Boys and Sony with the PSP for many years. However, the mobile game industry has evolved massively in recent years. Blockbuster games such as Call of Duty and Genshin Impact have mobile versions that players can enjoy in high-quality matches that are native to smartphones. They offer all the specs of console games, multiplayer modes, and updates that keep them ahead of the curve, but also offer the special bonus of being able to play everywhere.
Other popular gaming options on smartphones include online casino games and specific games created for mobile devices like Candy Crush. Online casinos have managed to carve out a massive part of the mobile gaming market. From poker to roulette, there are hundreds of different companies and apps to choose from. Choosing which casinos to play can be tough in such a large market, but checking out non-Gamstop casino sites is a good place to start.
PlayStation Remote Play
Despite there being other gaming options around, the introduction of PlayStation’s remote play has been monumental in changing the way games are played on mobile devices. Remote Play is an official and easy way to play PlayStation games.
It is a free feature offered to gamers that essentially allows the user to stream PS4 or PS5 games to any handheld device you have, including smartphones, tablets, or PCs. It is as simple as downloading the Remote Play App, enabling Remote Play from the console, connecting the two, and logging into your account. Once you have done this, you are good to go and have access to your full PlayStation library on your mobile device.
This set-up allows you to game from the sofa whilst watching TV or even on the toilet and is less restrictive than staying stuck to the console in your bedroom. This shift could see mobile gaming becoming the go-to option for gamers.
PlayStation Plus Cloud Gaming
Remote Play is not the only way that you can play PlayStation games on your phone.
If you subscribe to a PlayStation Plus Premium account, you have access to Sony’s cloud gaming service. This eliminates the need for a console and allows you to stream a huge library of games from the Sony server directly.
Players can simply log in to the PlayStation app on their phone and choose from PS3 and PS4 from the streaming library straight to their phone. Whilst this is limiting the player’s choice of games, it gives a whole newfound freedom to play some classic PlayStation titles from anywhere you wish, as long as you have your phone with you. This is sure to be the future of gaming for many, and it’s no wonder that Sony and their rival counterparts are investing heavily in this style of gaming.
