Mario Kart World Zooms Onto Nintendo Switch 2 June 5

Nintendo has just dropped the headline: Mario Kart World goes Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5. The official tweet asked if they would stick with their classic mains or try out some fresh ones, and comments are a wild mess of excitement, saltiness, and complete confusion.

Character discussions have been WILD, for one. There are, of course, Yoshi stans (big ups to DJxChristopher for posting hype Yoshi pics), benjamin_02278 “day one Waluigi main”-style, and then we have Michael_Toms in complete despair because Toadsworth has been denied; apparently, justice for Toadsworth is overdue. Meanwhile, Lordofthesuplex demands crab footage in the glory of Sidestepper. Unhinged fandom, and for once, the good kind.

Then worse things happened with pricing talk. Mr_GoofAss coldly claimed Nintendo “priced me out,” while Chatothebear cruelly said, “No because $80.” The fanbase suddenly turned suspicious toward the game cards of the Switch 2 and debated on whether they are just licenses of digital copy (RMcqueso swears it’s been confirmed). On the other hand, EddsworldTom123 comes and just holds up a meme telling Nintendo to “drop the prices.” It has to be a struggle.

And then there was just pure random messiness. Koishe attacked Nintendo for “censoring people’s shirts” (??), with GeraldCombs92 giving us that relatable “little bro Luigi” trauma. Meanwhile, StarkosiTV is so hard-punching Black Yoshi for the replacement by Purple Yoshi-what a roller coaster.

Amid this chaos, hype certainly runs high. AlphaPWNY is in the middle of testing every character and then deciding on one; CZunde jumped in regardless of him not being a big fan of racing games; and then we have the third priority of being happy Frank (franklvl100) of the “real Nintendo fan” is getting the Switch 2 sooner.

So, Mario Kart World release, the fandom are smashing the buttons, and June 5 can’t come soon enough! Whether you’re Team Donkey Kong (AlexSch00195791 knows what’s up), Team Pauline (big ups to thechito20), or here for some crab propaganda, kart wars are just starting. Buckle up.
