
Dolly de Leon and Jon Jon Briones join cast of Netflix’s live-action ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’
Award-winning Filipina actress Dolly de Leon and Filipino actor Jon Jon Briones are starring in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of hit American series “The Last Airbender.”
According to Variety, De Leon will join the show’s second season to portray the roles of twins Lo and Li, while Briones will star as swordsman Piandao in its third season.
Dichen Lachman, Terry Chen, Lily Gao, and Madison Hu will also be joining as new cast members.
The new cast announcement comes as Avatar: The Last Airbender wrapped up filming for Season 2 and is set to kick off production on Season 3. The series premiered in February 2024 and was renewed for its final two seasons that May.
They join the previously announced Season 2 cast, which includes Miya Cech, Chin Han, Hoa Xuande, Justin Chien, Amanda Zhou, Crystal Yu, Kelemete Misipeka, Lourdes Faberes, and Rekha Sharma.
Also returning are series leads Fil-Canadian Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, and Dallas Liu, along with cast members Elizabeth Yu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Daniel Dae Kim, Momona Tamada, and Thalia Tran.
De Leon is the first Filipina nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in “Triangle of Sadness” and recently starred in the American thriller series “Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2” and “Expats,” both alongside Nicole Kidman.
Meanwhile, Briones earned prominence and a Laurence Olivier nomination for playing the Engineer in the 2014 West End revival of Miss Saigon, a role he reprised on Broadway in 2017.
