Should Nintendo stick with their “new retro” style for The Legend of Zelda games?

With the release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, many fans (including myself) were shockingly pleased by the restyling of their modern top-down adventure game. Similar to Link’s Awakening, Echoes of Wisdom feels more like the classic games of the Super Nintendo or Game Boy consoles. What really makes a difference, though, is the charming tilt-shift filter added to the game, which really creates depth and charm in an otherwise basic game format. While I do love Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, there is something exciting about returning to the genuine, classic Zelda formula while throwing in massive twists and turns. The mechanics, especially, from Echoes to Swordfighter Form and more, still give plenty of new ideas to play around with, and I look forward to seeing where this style ends up!
