is it time for the iPad to get the Pixel Tablet Hub Mode treatment?

Which Assassin’s Creed game would you want developed into a full movie or show?

As someone who has never actually played an Assassin’s Creed game, it might be surprising to hear that I know way too much about the stories themselves. It all started when a song from the score of Assassin’s Creed III came on my studying playlist in college, and the algorithms that be sent me an ad for the game later on. I then entered a rabbit hole of watching compilations of gameplay and the cinematic trailers for each respective iteration. I remember seeing the trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity with Lorde’s cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World for the first time — the bird soaring over a pivotal point of the French Revolution and the Brotherhood falling seamlessly into the fray. I still wish we could get another Assassin’s Creed movie, but this time based on Unity, Valhalla, or even Black Flag. If you could get a perfect adaptation of one Assassin’s Creed game of your choice, what would it be?

How do you binge watch?

The release of season 3 of The Bear is dropping this week, which got me thinking, do you prefer it when shows release all episodes at once like this? With Disney+, HBO, and Amazon Prime Video firmly committing to weekly releases with their buzziest titles, and Netflix increasingly choosing to split seasons for hits like Bridgerton, Emily in Paris and Cobra Kai, it seems like the “all at once” binge model may be dying out.

I used to strongly prefer the immediate gratification of the all-at-once binge, but I find myself increasingly drawn back to the weekly release model, as it allows me to properly “digest” shows I really like, and also allows fans to connect with one another to discuss the show. I think a good argument for this type of model would be AMC+’s Interview with the Vampire, which is released weekly and has built up quite a community online with folks discussing each episode on TikTok and X. Such deep dives would not be possible if all episodes were released at once, and it

Are foldable smartphones here to stay or are they just a passing fad?

Whether we like it or not, foldables seem to be here to stay — at least for now. Samsung dominates the North American market thanks to its solid Fold and Flip lines. I used to be not fond of foldables, but I’ve changed my opinion now that you don’t need to make significant compromises to get your hands on one. Gone are the days when you’d need to settle for a less-than-stellar build and poor camera quality to impress your friends and family with a folding screen. Of course, foldables still have issues, but they’re all-around pretty solid.

I don’t really need a book-style Z Fold 6 because having a tablet in my pocket doesn’t appeal to me (and it’s ridiculously expensive), but the clamshell Flip 6’s cool design and satisfying snap are difficult to resist (and this is coming from someone who is primarily an iPhone user). Its price tag is pretty reasonable and in line with other high-end smartphones, too. Now that Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 have arrived, are you considering t

Do you plan to cancel your Disney+ subscription?

Surprise! Disney is once again increasing the price of Disney+. Pocket-lint’s Amanda Kondolojy has all the information you need in the linked article, but the short version is this: Starting October 17, a standalone subscription will cost $10 per month for ad-supported users and $16 per month for premium subscribers. For context, Disney+ cost $7 per month, without ads, when it launched less than five years ago. Do you think Disney+ is still worth it? And if so, do you plan to continue paying for the service once October arrives?

Apple’s iOS 18 has now been live for almost two weeks: is it standing up to the hype?

Apple officially released the latest-and greatest version of its iPhone operating system — iOS 18 — to the world back on September 16. The new update launched alongside the much-anticipated iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 Sequoia releases, marking a big day for the California-based tech giant. iOS 18 introduces a number of new features into the mix, including a customizable Control Center interface, the ability to place app icons anywhere on the home screen, a new dark mode icon pallet, and more. Unfortunately, all the fancy Apple Intelligence AI features the company has been boasting about aren’t available at launch, with most of them expected to trickle out over the coming weeks and months. Close to two weeks have passed since the fateful launch day of iOS 18, and it hasn’t taken long for impressions and opinions to permeate throughout the internet. As with any other major software update release, even in stable form, a number of bugs and performance issues have cropped up. Apple will undou

Did you appreciate the HOTD season two slow burn?

Amidst all the discourse on HOTD’s season two sluggishness, I have chosen the hill I’ll die on: I actually appreciated that we didn’t rush face-first into war with the Greens. Since streaming quickly rushed over our media consumption in the 2010s, our dopamine receptors are even more shot than they were before. With CGI and instant gratification working together to put our brain chemicals into an expectant frenzy, we all wanted more — and pronto. But, what we got was the personal angle of our favorite (and not-so-favorite) characters and their morally gray actions. We got microcosms of their personal clashes and their effect upon millions of people. We got to see the amplification of the struggle between Rhaenyra and Alicent fan out to that of their children, allies, and kingdom. What I appreciate even more is that the directors didn’t balk at the challenge — they surely knew the audience would be squawking at them come the final montage at the end of the season finale — how on eart
