Apple has made it easier than ever to transform your Mac into a portable, immersive display using its mixed reality wearable, the Apple Vision Pro.
With the Mac Virtual Display feature, users can link their Macs to the Apple Vision Pro for a massive, private, and portable screen. Whether you’re working on a MacBook or a desktop Mac, you can enhance your workflow and enjoy a more flexible computing experience by following a few simple steps.
Before your begin:
- Make sure both your Mac and Apple Vision Pro are logged into the same Apple ID. Additionally, enable two-factor authentication for extra security.
- On your Mac, navigate to System Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Passwords & Keychain, and toggle on “Sync this Mac.” Do the same on your Apple Vision Pro by going to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Passwords & Keychain, then turning on “Sync this Apple Vision Pro.”
- Ensure both devices have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled for seamless connectivity.
To start a Mac Virtual Display session:
For MacBook Users:
- Open Your Laptop: Ensure your MacBook is open and its display is active.
- Wear Your Apple Vision Pro: While wearing the headset, simply look at your MacBook’s screen.
- Tap the Connect Button: A Connect button will appear above your Mac laptop in your view. Tap it to initiate the connection.
For Mac Desktop Users:
- Access Control Center: On your Apple Vision Pro, open the Control Center.
- Select Mac Virtual Display: Tap the Mac Virtual Display option. If it doesn’t show up right away, access it by tapping the Control Center icon.
- Choose Your Mac: From the list of available Macs, select the one you want to connect.
