‘Still friends’: Cassandra Ynares denies rumors about being romantically pursued by Bimby Aquino
Cassandra Ynares, daughter of Antipolo Mayor Jun Ynares and former mayor Andrea Ynares, has ended rumors about being romantically pursued by Bimby Aquino, son of actress and TV host Kris Aquino.
Cassandra had just finished participating in the Maytime Antipolo Festival parade last Saturday, May 17, when she was briefly interviewed by PEP.ph.
When asked if Bimby was courting her, she clarified that she and Bimby have been friends for years — even before the pandemic — and that there’s no romance between them.
“We’re just really close and it’s so nice to have a friend in that industry as well,” Cassandra said. “We haven’t really talked about [the rumors]. Like, nothing happened. We’re still friends and that’s how we treat each other.”
Cassandra recently visited Kris, who, according to her, had lovely things to say, mentioning that the former has always been kind to her.
“Very grateful po that Tita Kris likes me like that,” Ynares shared about their meeting. “It’s really an honor that she said so much about me. I don’t know what to say except I’m really flattered.”
On whether she’s the girl Kris once referred to as her favorite for Bimby, Cassandra simply laughed and said, “Puwede ba, secret na lang?”
Despite the buzz, Cassandra said she and Bimby choose to ignore the rumors and online speculations.
“We haven’t really talked about it. Like, nothing happened. We’re still friends and that’s how we treat each other po,” Ynares reiterated their current status.
She further addressed the rumors online saying, “You know, what you see, don’t always believe. Don’t believe what you see online.”
“We’re just really close and it’s so nice to have a friend in that industry as well,” added Cassandra. “I mean, like as a friend, obviously, you enjoy a friend’s company and, yeah, it’s nice to have him around. He’s a good friend.”
A video featuring Cassandra and Bimby dancing to “Me Jalo” previously drew attention, fueling speculations about their chemistry as a possible pairing in the future.
Adding to the intrigue, the two were reportedly spotted together at a local event in Sitio Mansetta, Brgy. Cupang in early May, where they performed a duet to a classic love song, “On The Wings of Love”, and later joined a group for a dance on stage.
Last April, Bimby also attended Cassandra’s youth-led event in Antipolo, where she launched “Cassma Foundation” focused on promoting emotional and mental wellness among high school students.
As for whether she’s open to being paired with Bimby in a love team, she responded with a light laugh, “Not yet!” — adding that she’s not allowed to have a boyfriend at this point in her life.
Regarding a possible entry into showbiz, Cassandra said it’s still under discussion with her mom.
“Maybe. I still have to talk to Mom about it. But hopefully, yeah. Hindi po ako sure e,” she said.
For now, Cassandra, who gained attention after attending this year’s ABS-CBN Ball, is concentrating instead on pursuing her education goals and youth initiatives in Antipolo.
Meanwhile, Bimby previously shared his plans to pursue a degree in Legal Management while caring for his mother, who is currently battling autoimmune diseases.
