PRO 6 honors Army, Coast Guard, Police for election duty

THE Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) honored on Monday, May 19, 2025, the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division of the Philippine Army and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for their crucial support in ensuring peaceful and orderly 2025 midterm elections.

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of PRO 6, led the presentation of plaques of appreciation during the flag-raising and awarding ceremony at the PRO 6 Multi-Purpose Hall, Camp General Martin Teofilo B. Delgado, Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City.

“The role of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army and the Philippine Coast Guard was pivotal, particularly in the safe transport and distribution of election paraphernalia, and in preventing untoward incidents during the election period,” Wanky said.

The police regional office reported no major election-related incidents before, during, or immediately after election day, highlighting a generally peaceful and orderly voting process across Western Visayas.

Brigadier General Nhel Richard Patricio, commander of the 301st Infantry (Bayanihan) Brigade, received the award on behalf of the Philippine Army, while Captain Julian Bayawa Jr., deputy commander of the Coast Guard Western Visayas (CGWV), accepted the plaque for the PCG.

In the same ceremony, PRO 6 awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan to several police officers for outstanding law enforcement operations.

Police Major Roy Tayona and Police Master Sergeant Luna Jane Loraña of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station (MPS), Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), were recognized for arresting the sixth-ranked Regional Most Wanted Person on April 21, 2025.

Police Major Renato Monreal II and Police Master Sergeant July Job Miles of the San Jose MPS received the same medal for capturing the fourth-ranked Regional Most Wanted Person on April 28, 2025.

Wanky commended the dedication and discipline of PRO 6 personnel in fulfilling their election duties, emphasizing their service motto: Tampad kag Sinsèro.

He added that the success of the 2025 midterm elections reflected the shared commitment of national government agencies, local government units, force multipliers, and the media.

“We have once again shown the public that good things are possible when we work together,” Wanky said.

He also reminded all units to remain vigilant, as the post-election period could still present critical developments requiring continued cooperation and alertness.

The ceremony was attended by the PRO 6 Command Group, Regional and Special Staff, chiefs of National Support Units, and other police personnel from across the region.

PRO 6 has been recognized for its efforts in promoting inter-agency cooperation and acknowledging exemplary performance among its ranks and allied agencies—particularly during critical national events such as elections. (Leo Solinap)
