Traffic Plan in Place for Shrine Hills Feast in Davao City

CTTMO head Dionisio Abude told SunStar Davao that the plan, similar to last year’s, will be implemented on January 15, 2025.

Vehicular traffic will be one-way from Pluto Street to the ABS-CBN Compound. Access from C.P. Garcia Highway to Shrine Hills Road will be regulated, and designated parking areas, including private vacant lots, will be available.

To minimize congestion, no entry will be allowed along Pluto Street leading to the church from 3 p.m. onwards or until necessary.

Abude said over 84 CTTMO personnel will be deployed in shifts of 20 enforcers each.

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) and the Ancillary Services Unit (ASU) will assist in managing vendors, who often contribute to traffic congestion.

“Usa man pod gyud na makacause ug traffic gyud kanang atong unsa ni vendors nga magpatunga (Vendors setting up in the middle of the road are one of the causes of traffic),” Abude said on Tuesday afternoon, January 14, 2025.

Directional signages will also be installed to guide motorists and visitors heading to Shrine Hills.

The fiesta activities on January 15 include a Pontifical Mass at 9 a.m. presided over by Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D. The day begins with a procession of the Statue of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m., followed by a nine-hour novena and masses from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. RGP
