Mobile game Candy Crush Saga is having a ‘Music Season’

We’ve written regularly about Fortnite’s music-focused ‘Festival’ mode, but now another hugely-popular game is dipping its toes into music. The game is Candy Crush Saga, originally released for mobile phones in 2012. Since then it has been downloaded more than 5bn times and generated $20bn in revenue.

Its ‘Candy Crush Music Season’ kicked off last week (19 September) with a new set of themed tournaments, music-focused visuals and a competition prize to attend “three live concerts of your choice anywhere in the world”.

There are also some artist partnerships to promote the new season. Kimbra, Tokimonsta and Łaszewo have each created a track based on the game’s sounds, with the music released as “candified” music videos by the game’s publisher King.

The tracks are also available on audio streaming services, with ‘feat. Candy Crush Saga’ in the title of each just to make the branding clear.
