6 nabbed, over P1M shabu seized in Cebu in 2 days
OVER one million pesos worth of illegal drugs were seized by the Cebu police in separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted on Saturday (January 25) and Sunday (January 26), leading to the arrest of six individuals.
The first to be apprehended were two linemen from a telephone company during a buy-bust carried out by the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Talisay City Police Station at 10:56 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Sitio Kawayan, Barangay San Roque.
The suspects were identified as brothers Jupher Soncados Cartagena, 38, and his older brother Junril, 40, both residents of Sitio Sawsawan, Barangay San Roque, Talisay City.
Seized from them were 10 packets of shabu weighing 100 grams, with a standard drug price of P680,000.
According to authorities, the Talisay City police had placed the brothers under surveillance for two weeks. They were reportedly capable of selling 100 grams of shabu weekly from their supplier.
In Cebu City, the Parian Police Station also arrested another drug personality during a buy-bust at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Sitio Lower Lumar, Barangay T. Padilla.
The suspect was identified as Jomar Tañajura Arcipe, 31, a resident of Sitio Laray, Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.
Confiscated from him were 10 sachets of shabu weighing 5 grams, valued at P34,000, along with drug paraphernalia.
At 8:30 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2025, the Waterfront Police Station 3 arrested a high-value individual in Sitio Silangan 2, Barangay Tejero, identified as Daniel Zabala Laurenciano, alias Dan, 33, a resident of Sitio Especapa, Barangay Tisa, Cebu City.
Recovered from Dan were 11 small sachets and one large packet of shabu weighing 37 grams, with a standard drug price of P251,600.
Also arrested was a 40-year-old man in Sitio Looban, Barangay Tejero, identified as Efren Sangon Reynes, a resident of Sitio Sambag in the same barangay.
Authorities seized from Efren illegal drugs valued at P34,000 and drug paraphernalia.
At 8 p.m., the Abellana Police Station 2 successfully apprehended another drug personality in Sitio Lower Kawayan, Barangay Sambag 2.
The suspect was identified as John Naz Roqriguez, alias Pare, 49, a resident of Filter Site, Barangay Tisa.
Recovered from him were two sachets of shabu weighing four grams, with a standard drug price of P27,200.
All confiscated evidence has been turned over to the Philippine National Police Regional Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.
The arrested individuals will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (AYB)
