A pump boat is a type of small, motorized outrigger boat commonly used in the Philippines for transportation, fishing, and island hopping. It usually has a narrow main hull with two outriggers on the sides for balance and stability.

The term “pump boat” comes from the early use of water pump engines to power these boats. They are popular in coastal and island communities because they are practical, affordable, and can navigate through shallow or rough waters.

Despite their size, pump boats can carry several passengers and are often used for both daily travel and tourism.
