Authorities arrested four men late Thursday night, May 29, for robbery-holdup in a commercial area in Makati City.
The suspects were dressed in uniforms resembling those of ride-hailing service drivers.

The incident took place in Barangay Bel-Air, after a 29-year-old male vendor from Gen. Luna Street reported to the Police Assistance Desk (PAD) at the corner of Leviste and Gallardo Streets.
He told police he was robbed at gunpoint by four men—one wearing a ride-hailing company uniform, and the rest in black shirts—who took his phone and valuables before fleeing on two motorcycles.

Police immediately launched a hot pursuit operation.
The suspects were later spotted along Valero Street.
When they attempted to escape, officers chased them and eventually apprehended them near Sedeño Street.
“Kagabi po, ang nangyari ay umiikot-ikot muna sila, sir. ‘Yong isang motor na magka-angkas muna, sir, ikot-ikot muna sa area, sir—sa may Dela Costa actually. So, magkahiwalay sila. Pero ‘yong distansya nila, sir, mga 200 meters. So, makikita mo, sir, tapos, sir, magtatabi and then iikot uli. Talagang tumitingin sila,” said Makati acting police chief Col. Jean Dela Torre.
“Nakaabang din sila, sir, sa mga lalabas sa mga building at ‘yong mga nago-overtime, sir, ‘yan ang mga targets nila,” she added.
Police recovered the victim’s phone, a .38 revolver with defaced serial number, a replica pistol, a grenade, and other weapons.
The suspects, linked to the Batang City Jail gang, face multiple charges as the investigation continues.

In other news, a 67-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead by two unidentified suspects while transporting a passenger in Umingan, Pangasinan. The victim sustained three gunshot wounds to the chest and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while the passenger was unharmed. Police are still investigating, with motives such as a land dispute or revenge being considered.
Still in other news, a police officer was tragically killed in an ambush in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, early Tuesday morning. Police Executive Master Sergeant Geoffrey Angub succumbed to gunshot wounds. A quick and extensive hot pursuit operation led to the apprehension of the two suspects, a father and son, who were found hiding in Polomolok, South Cotabato. Isulan Police Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Julius Malcontento stated that initial investigations and witness testimonies point to a personal grudge as the motive behind the killing.
